EP 76 Working with Water to Increase Resilience
Zoe Green, Associate Director and strategic advisor at WSP New Zealand, joins the Think.Future conversation to talk about the concept of 'Sponge Cities', a nature-based solution to mitigate water risk at scale. Zoe explains that water is like the lifeblood of a city and flows through the veins of our spaces and places like blood through the human body. She talks about how examples like the Greenslade Reserve in Auckland can retain the water we need to sustain life whilst also improving our stormwater resilience. The result is a 'whole of city' design approach which supports greater biodiversity, increased water resilience and ultimately enables both cities and their inhabitants to thrive.
